Changes Ahead!

Hello Friends!

I'm so glad you clicked this link to learn more about what is happening at Firefly Needlework. I have been answering lots of emails and messages about the changes I've hinted about so I thought it might be nice to give a broad, public update so we can all be on the same page.

I'm very blessed to be able to say that this year has been busy, busy, busy and while it is most definitely a positive thing to experience it has also created some negative effects for my business as a whole.  I'm finding it important to attempt to streamline the products and services I offer so that I can provide the BEST possible experience for my customers.

So, what are these big changes?

  • Appliqué: I am unable to offer custom orders for appliqué items at this time. I am hoping to be able to offer that service again after the start of the new year with an updated pricing and scheduling form.
  • Vinyl Decorated Tees: I am not going to be offering vinyl decorated tee shirts going forward.  I will still be designing periodically and those items will probably have a pre-order period and then we'll take one big order and that will be it.  I DO have some Christmas/Holiday shirts in the works so be patient.  I do plan to always offer a new design for holidays...I'm hoping to move away from vinyl though.  It takes an incredible amount of time for me to design and test and many, many of those tests fail and never make it to the website.  If I wouldn't wear it somewhere, you aren't ever going to see it.  Sometimes I get really excited and tease a design before I've fully tested it and then it turns out to be a dud and I don't offer it...this has happened in the past few weeks and I apologize sincerely.  I am working on moving to sublimation designs which fuse the ink into the fibers of the garment and don't ever crack, peel, or fade.  It has been a year long process so far.  You guys know that I like to get things right and that's what I'm trying to do.

What isn't changing?

  • I'm still monogramming anything and everything you have.  Local customers are able to drop off their items to me for embroidery and pick up at their convenience.  Customers that aren't local are welcome to ship items they are purchasing from a retailer and have them delivered to me for embroidery too.
  • I still have a website that will hopefully be getting a huge overhaul (when I get the time-lol) so that I can add all the wonderful new items I've found this year. Some of those items are: Pima Cotton sleepers, bibs and blankets, Christening gowns and bonnets, diaper bags, picture frames, the fun confetti pouches I have already posted, personalized Christmas ornaments and hand towels, TONS of pillows...the list could go on and on but I'll spare you.

I know some of my changes are disappointing to some of you, I promise you it's disappointing to me too but in most cases I'm able to point you toward another wonderful small business owner that can take care of those needs. I'm only one person with no plans to hire at this time. I want to continue to offer my customers great service.  I want you to find excellent value for your money.  That really matters to me and all of these changes are necessary to continue to do that.  For any of you that aren't personal FB friends of mine I did explore the possibility of opening a physical store recently, I posted about it asking for suggestions and opinions and got some really great feedback. I would REALLY love to be able to have face to face contact with you and to collaborate on projects together but this just isn't the right time yet.  I think it's going to take the right location at the right time to make that HUGE jump...just know that it's always in the back of my mind.  If you get any leads, let me know-wink wink!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and please, please let me know if there is anything else you'd like to know, any questions that you have...I'm here, as always.

Warmly,

Cara

***PS: I've been trying to have a clearance sale for MONTHS now and I'm just so restricted on time.  I'm wanting to clear out some shirts, baby items, and other gear that either didn't live up to my expectations or are just out of season and need to go.  If any of you can continually nag me about this it would help a lot. lol.  I would LOVE to do this before Christmas so you can get some steals for gifts but again, time is tight.  Stay tuned!!
